Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) 


Provides individualized behavioral support services to students in the Pillar School and Pillar High School and consultation to consumers in the Adult Training Centers.  (95% schools; 5% ATCS)


School Principals (school)


  1. Responds to behavioral referrals in a timely manner. Conducts behavioral observations, functional analyses, and behavioral assessments. Develops and authors behavior intervention programs and recommendations in accordance with agency and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments as needed, chart and analyze data to introduce interventions for maladaptive behavior, able to appropriately address maladaptive behaviors, create behavior plan, train and assist staff in crisis situations.
  3. Work closely with school crisis team staff to develop behavior intervention plan and able to clearly explain, implement and train staff using positive behavior supports. Monitors staff implementation of behavior interventions, providing on-site modeling, feedback, and additional training as needed to ensure the implementation of procedures as written in the interventions.
  4. Advises and trains crisis team and staff in the resolution of behavioral crisis situations, and intervenes in crisis situations when needed.
  5. Advises and trains staff in the proactive / skill building approaches to the management of behavior that support the agencies philosophy of enhancing quality of life for our consumers.
  6. Take detailed notes, make observations in classrooms, and make suggestions and train staff in methods of behavior data collection. Monitors staff, follow through with data collection in programs, providing feedback and training as needed.
  7. Analyzes data on an ongoing basis to provide assessment of progress with behavior interventions. Revises plans as necessary based upon data.
  8. Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, consulting and working with the consumer, family/guardian, staff, and state case managers as needed. Attends IEP, and IHP meetings. Attends preplacement meetings as needed.
  9. Conducts and participates in trainings related to behavioral topics provided by the agency.
  10. Consults with school supervisors when necessary. Reports to school supervisors on a weekly basis and provides behavioral updates on all referred consumers and programs implemented within assigned site. Identifies areas of training potentially needed.
  11. Conducts and participates in trainings related to behavioral topics provided by the agency.
  12. Attends behavior related meetings, trainings, workshops, Human Rights Committee Meetings and Behavior Support Rights Meetings and conferences as recommended by the supervisors for the purpose of increasing knowledge base and improving behavioral services to the consumer.
  13. Serves as an advocate for all Pillar Schools students; setting an example to staff that protecting and promoting dignity, respect, independence, health and safety is our primary commitment and responsibility.
  14. Provide teachers with research-based interventions for skill acquisition goals.
  15. Other responsibilities as directed by the Principal

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with course work and experience in Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Science, and/or a related field; at least 1 to 3 years experience working in a behavior modification program with individuals with developmental disabilities; Knowledge of and experience with applied behavior analysis.
