On Friday, September 26, Pillar High School celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the Helene Jaffe Medical Suite! The expanded medical suite gives more room for students with disabilities to be treated in a comfortable space.
The suite was named in honor of Helene Jaffe. After 28 years on the Pillar Care Continuum Board of Trustees, Helene retired from the board in June 2025. Her guidance during her time on the board was instrumental as we expanded our services. When Helene joined the board in 1997, we were just opening our first group home and Pillar High School had yet to be built. A social worker turned occupational therapist, Helene’s expertise was vital for improving our services. We thank her for all she’s done to support the agency.
Students at Pillar Schools rely on our school nurses for daily care. Tara Powers, Pillar High School Parent, shared how her son uses the Helene Jaffe Medical Suite daily for the event. Hear her family’s story in the video below.
At the event, New Jersey Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill and Livingston Councilman Al Anthony attended to celebrate this milestone for Pillar High School. We would like to thank them for their support of Pillar Care’s mission to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
The nurses of Pillar High School do so much to assist the students in their daily lives. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and caring attitude with the students every day.
